Testing your Pool
Test pH level
6.8 – 7.2.
The desired level after adjustment is 6.8 (7.2 is the upper
limit) it will increase over time.
To lower the pH add liquid pool acid (do not use dry acid) at a rate of one litre to
40,000 litres of water, until the pH is 6.8
Dilute acid 10:1 before adding. Always handle acid with caution, please refer the
acid manufacturers safety instructions.
Always test and correct pH before testing the copper level, a high pH will
give an incorrect copper level reading.
Test Copper level
0.4 – 0.7ppm
If copper level is below 0.4 adjust the Ionising LEVEL up towards 6 or if it is
above 0.7ppm adjust the Ionising LEVEL down towards 0.
Adjustments should only be made one level at a time, testing every week to
determine if further adjustment is required.
Test Calcium level
400ppm
I
f the Calcium level falls below 250ppm you should adjust the level to
400ppm again. 15kgs of calcium chloride will raise level approx 200ppm for a
50,000 litre pool.
Test Phosphate
Test your pool monthly for phosphate; a phosphate level of zero is required.
The presence of phosphate can result in inaccurate pH and Copper readings and
reduces the effectiveness of ionization, which can result in algae bloom. If
phosphate is present obtain appropriate phosphate treatment from your local pool
shop.
Check the Total Alkalinity (TA.) every three months. Keep the level above 40. To increase TA add Sodium Bi-Carbonate, not more than 1KG at a time, every other day until you have a TA reading between 40 and 100. If the pool water is crystal clear but has a lime green colour, test TA.
Please contact your dealer with any questions relating to your Barramundi Freshwater Swimming Pool Management System. Regular pool shops supplying non-Barramundi Systems do not have the experience to advise you correctly.
